The Herd
At Abbey Farm Cottage, our goats are the heart of everything we do. Our mixed herd of Golden Guernsey and British Guernsey dairy goats provides the rich, creamy milk that goes into our award-winning Rosedale Goats Cheese and handcrafted goat milk soap. We follow a kid-at-foot system, allowing our girls to raise their kids naturally while sharing their milk with us through a single morning milking. Evenings are spent separately, giving both mums and kids a peaceful night’s rest. Alongside our dairy herd, we also raise a small Boer meat herd, ensuring our farm remains sustainable, ethical, and true to our values of high-welfare farming.
Bonnet
Bonnet Grand Daughter of Ariel is the matriarch of our herd, a real cheeky character who doesn't like to stay in one pen and is regularly seen hoping between pens in the barn and paddocks during the summer . Bonnet regularly takes part in Goat yoga and is a member of our milking herd.
Alice
Alice sister to Amelia is a cherished member of our herd and one of the original stars of our goat yoga team. With her gentle demeanour and friendly eyes, she brings extra charm to every morning milking and delights visitors during yoga sessions. As the proud mother of Queenie born 2024 and a male kid in 2025, Alice's nurturing spirit and playful nature make her an indispensable part of the Abbey Farm Cottage family
Bouncer and Hope
Bouncer is the sister of Bonnet and has the similar characteristics i.e. she cant be contained and is our only free-range goat!!
Whereas little Hope is named as we had a spell of sick kids and she was the only one to survive, and she gave me hope!! Hope is cheeky and loves here cuddles.
Cracker
Cracker is our spirited bottle-fed star who once stole the show at Abbey Farm Cottage by leaping onto Tessa Peake-Jones' back during Robson Green’s visit. A keen yogi with boundless energy, she’s already a favourite in our goat yoga sessions and has joined the milking girls now she is the mother of Diamond. . Cracker is back doing Yoga with her daughter Diamond
Nutmeg
Nutmeg is our adorable goat orphaned at just one week old in 2024 and lovingly hand-reared. This little yogi quickly stole the spotlight during goat yoga sessions, joyfully leaping from back to back before snuggling down in shavasana for a peaceful nap. As she grows up, Nutmeg will continue to charm us with her playful spirit in yoga, before eventually joining our milk herd
Mars
Mars, daughter of Star, is a lively and enthusiastic member of our goat yoga team, bringing energy and joy to each session. With her playful nature and love for interacting with our visitors, she quickly became a favourite, Mars has joined our milking girls, and is the proud Mum of Venus and Neptune continuing the tradition of our hardworking and dedicated herd. Her bright personality and future contributions make her a valued member of the Abbey Farm Cottage family.
